T Comm Tracking & Tracing introduces P-Eye tire pressure control for passenger cars
July 21, 2010T Comm Tracking & Tracing introduces the patented P-Eye tire pressure sensor for passenger cars. The P-Eye is fitted onto the valve of the tire instead of the valve cap and then continuously monitors the tire pressure. Low tire pressure leads to unnecessary levels of fuel consumption and wear of the tire, which leads to unsafe situations in traffic.
The P-Eye is an electronic tire pressure sensor which replaces the valve cap on the car tire. The tire is brought to the correct pressure beforehand. The P-Eye then measures this pressure and calibrates itself to the correct pressure. This allows the P-Eye to be used on any passenger car and van from 1 to 5.5 bar. When the tire pressure drops more than 10% below the set pressure, the led-light will start flashing. The driver then knows that the tire pressure on that tire is low and can pump up the tire. P-Eye means that all the tires no longer need to be checked with a tire pressure meter in the meantime, but the flashing leds can be used as an indication instead.
The unique design means the P-Eye falls completely over the valve which means it does not stick out from the tire. This prevents damage during driving. The P-Eye can be secured against theft with the supplied anti-theft key. By turning the cap a quarter-way with the key, the P-Eye can no longer be screwed off the valve. The P-Eye is supplied with a unique battery which can ensure continued functioning in extreme weather conditions. The battery will keep power in extreme cold and can also withstand brine in winter. When the battery starts to become empty, a yellow led starts flashing. The battery is replaceable.
Research shows that over 50% of all tires have low tire pressure. This increases the wear on the tire by approximately 15 to 20%. Almost all burst tires and consequent accidents are caused by low tire pressure. Low tire pressure also causes in increase in fuel consumption of more than 5% and associated CO2 emission. Every litre of fuel consumed corresponds to 2.66 kg CO2 emission. So from an environmental perspective, the maintaining of the correct tire pressure is also of great importance. The correct tire pressure can easily save € 250 per year at an average mileage of 30,000 km, according to the Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research.
The P-Eye is supplied with battery (replaceable) and anti-theft key. The P-Eye is available in the Netherlands from this autumn, for a recommended retail price of € 95.00 per set of 4.
